Dotty About H&M

Hello my lovelies, happy Monday.  Well I have never been a big fan of dot, spots and polka dots.  I had a summer fling with a dotty ra-ra skirt in 1982 but that has been about it until now...These confetti print, peplum beauties have stolen my heart.  The perfect way to welcome Spring into my wardrobe and that handy little peplum is great for those big tummy days, I just hope they still have them in store when I get there...Now blue or white, what do you think girls?

P.S.  They also have some geourgous capri pants in this print too a la Jackie in Capri...

Just add a T and some pretty flats for that eternal summer chic.

The Hive - European Blog Conference

Hello my lovelies, well I have some fun news today.  I belong to a small group on Facebook of some lovely girls who blog.  We cover all areas of interest in the blogging world and at all levels.  If we get stuck or just don't get something and frustrations are running high ( you get where I am coming from) there is always someone there to help and offer advice.  We have had a few meet ups and even did a Secret Santa this Christmas, which was lots of fun.  Well a few of the girls have got together and decided to put together a European Blog Conference called The Hive.   The aim is for bloggers from big and small blogs to get together, learn, network, share, support, inspire each other and have some fun!  Just like we do in our little group but for everyone.

These are the buzzy bees putting all this together, we have Radostina our photographer/stylist from 79 Ideas, the multi tasking Peggy who among other things runs Paul et Paula and our social media guru Yvonne who keeps us all laughing at The Girl In The Laundromat.

The conference will be in Berlin on the 19-20th May and I am looking forward to going to a new exciting city.  So if you fancy meeting some new friends, learning some new tricks and sharing your experiences join us in May for some inspiration in Berlin.

For more information and to keep up to date on all the news head on over to the website , FB and Twitter.  I am so proud of my friends, these girls put the action into plan, so share the news, spread the love and lets make this a wonderful experience for us all.

Happy Friday my darlings, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.  ax

What I Wore Wednesday

Hello my darlings, so the hair has been cut and by the Captain no less.  I need to have a play around and decide on partings etc but I like it so far, this was just left to air dry and is pretty good.  What do you think?

I am back for WIWW and linking up with The Pleated Poppy and all the girls over there.  I think my camera is on its last legs as the photo quality is rather poor or it could just be the Captain...

Good old black and white rather than navy for a change and one of my "go to" outfits, fitted trousers and a stripy top.  Easy to dress up or down and looks just as good with ballet flats or loafers as a heel.  I counted I have fourteen stripy tops, and that does not include dresses or accessories eek!  Maybe an intervention is needed?

Style Tip - As a shorty I always have to turn new trousers up, my go to length at the moment is ankle length, as that length looks just as good with flats as with a heel.  So you get to wear them twice as much, brilliant.

Top - Very old Asda
Trousers - Zara
Shoes - Debenhams, so old they could be vintage now.
Bag - Gucci
Necklace - Local market

What's your "go to" outfit ladies and do you have a wardrobe item that you just keep on buying?  Have a fabulous Wednesday and I will be back on Friday with some fun news.  ax

Yes Or No?

Hello my darlings, happy Monday.  I need your help in making a decision about what to do with my hair.  I have just been and had my layers put in and a tidy up but it is all a bit blah, I need a refresh.  I am thinking to bob/lob (long bob) it, I can't go too short as the jaw line is not what it once was, so it needs to go below the jaw.  I would love a pixie cut but those days are over, so I think this may work.  Here are my choices...

These styles are shorter and would suit my hair type, I have tried to be practical for once and my fringe has grown out enough to make these work, but do I want to go this short, would it suit me?

These style are on the longer side, shoulder length and I like the choice of centre or side parting.  Plus I could still tie it back for lazy days.  The downside could be that it just looks like a grown out bob.  I feel the straight bottom would bring my look a bit more up to date.

So yes or no girls?  Bob or lob?  I may need to hurry this decision up as I am itching to grab the scissors and get the Captain to do it for me, this has been know to happen before and he is a dab hand at hair colouring now..hehe.  I guess I am just one of those girls that just has never grown out of diy home hair, not all the results have been bad......

She's Got Style - Veronica P

Hello my lovelies, today I want to introduce you to a very stylish girl, Veronica P from Bittersweet Colours.  I have just found her blog and am loving all her looks, so well put together, with things we all have in the wardrobe but making them look so much more.  This is just what I need to inspire me through the rest of winter and into spring.

Note the sleeves.

Clash those colours and still look chic.

Button up and add a belt for interest.

Matching can be chic when done right.

See you don't need to rush out and buy more, you just need to put a tiny bit more thought in, add a bit of colour and dig out some accessories, I am sure you have all that hidden in your wardrobes, I know I do.  So I am going to try a bit harder when I get dressed and hopefully my chic will go up oh and yes, have some fun with clothes again.  I will be starting the big wardrobe sort out tomorrow, with hair and make up done and I will try on everything, it may take some time but it will be worth it.

Veronica is now firmly in my reader and you can find her here if you want to add her to yours.

Happy Thursday my loves, we have the big street party tonight in Palma, public bbq's live music in all the squares till 4am and everyone goes, toddlers to grandparents.  This is the way to beat those January blues, yeah for San Sebastian and the lovely people of Palma.  Now what to wear?   ax

Things To Strive For in 2012

Well I thought that this year I should at least pretend I am a grown up and set myself some goals for the year.  I am usually a go with the flow girl but I think I may have been treading water for a while now.  So here goes...

OK, this one needs to be taken to heart as I am brilliant at talking myself out of things.  I am in the process of setting up a small online boutique, but I am dragging my heels and talking myself out of it all the time.  Right, now I have said it, I am going to do it, I have nothing to loose.  I should just "suck it and see" as the Captain always says.

This one is embarrassing for me but I trust you lot.  I want to leave the house in daylight at least four times a week.  I know what? Right!  But I could very easily be a hermit and am trending that way this winter, so no more. I will get up and out to enjoy this beautiful Island and weather, even if it's just to take Poppy for a stroll.

Give some more love to the blog.  Grow it, organise it a little more and have a few spare posts up my sleeve.  I think I found my groove last year, but turning 40 has made me question myself too much recently.  So maybe not a "fashion blog" more of a "style blog" and most definitely time to re find my style.

I want to take more photos, better photos and use them for the blog.  I am currently saving up for a bigger and better camera, my point and shoot has been great but I need more now.  I am looking forward to learning some new skills.

I want to have fun with my clothes again.  I used to dress up all the time for no reason and play with accessories, then the word "practical" entered my wardrobe.  Well sailing will do that to a girl, but no more.  I am going to go through my wardrobe and try it ALL on, then if it does nothing for me and I can not alter it, it goes.  I will be ruthless!  I will also turn all the hanger around so I can see what I actually do wear (probably about 3 things).  I will still have to be sensible (ish) in the shoe department, as we walk everywhere and these hills can be tricky with all that slippery, worn smooth old stone and cobbles, but they will still be pretty and make my heart glad.

Health and fitness, it is always on these list and I am no different.  I want to get back to my exercises and learn to enjoy them.  I would also like to start some type of yoga as well, before I can no longer touch my toes.  Hehe.

Food wise we are not too bad but a shake up and trying some new things never hurt anyone, so that's the aim for this year.

Well, that was harder than it should have been, I got a bit deep at one point and had to reign myself back in. This is suppose to be a fun and good thing, so that's what I have tried to do.  I am sure I am not setting the world alight with any of this, but lets re visit in six months time and maybe set some more goals if I have got all these down.

Is this something you do?  Do you have much success?  I know mine are a bit wishy washy but I think I may be able to accomplish them if they are slightly open.  Well that is it from me today, I shall see you all again soon.  Have a great week my darling.  ax

What I Wore Wednesday

Hello all, I thought I would share my New Years Eve outfit as I was rather pleased with it and I have been in my pj's ever since.  For a change I will be linking up with Everybody Every Wear as this week has a black and white theme.

The New Years party had a Burlesque theme and I was not into wearing a corset in public, so I went the female tux route.  I had the little bird cage hat already which I thought gave it that extra something.  We did not have a bow tie in the house so I made one from a free pattern I found online, you can find it here from Burda Style.  I was happy with the total look and comfortable all night long, in fact I liked the look so much it may make another appearance.  What do you think?

Hat - Old
Shirt - Massimo Dutti
Pants - Zara
Belt - Gucci
Shoes - BCBG MaxAzria
Clutch - Vintage

The Captain and I on the night, he had a top hat, braces and a silk scarf plus the stinky cold I still am fighting with...Hehe.

I hope you are all well and enjoying the start of this new year.  I will be back on Friday with my list of goals for the coming year, you have to "name it, to claim it" so they say.  Happy Wednesday my darlings.  ax

Changes For The New Year.

Hello my darlings, well I am back in the world of the living although still not feeling fabulous.  I have been tiding up the blog a bit and you may notice that I have taken the Google Followers gadget away.  They are planning on getting rid of it in a few months so I thought I would get ahead of them.  You can read the full article here.  I am not sure if those blogs I follow will disappear from my reader, so I am making plans. You can follow me in any way you choose and all the link buttons are there on the side as I would hate to loose you all. I am also finally getting round to updating my blog list as it is woefully out of date and not very pretty, so bare with me as it may take some time.

I shall be spending a few more days in my pj's and drinking hot tea but I will be back on Wednesday for WIWW with my New Years Eve outfit.

See you soon my lovelies.  ax

Happy New Year.

Happy New Year my darlings!  I am just popping in to let you know I have not vanished but I did get a new years gift of the flu, so I will be absent for a small while longer.  I am hoping that I will be out from under this pile of tissues with a clear head again by next week.

I hope your year is getting off to a good start and if you are feeling poorly like me, I hope you feel better soon.  The Captain has kindly made a roast chicken with roast potatoes to tempt me into eating and I must say I am looking forward to it, I can even smell it so I must be on the mend...woohoo!

See you next week with my list of goals for this year, well I thought I should at least try this year.  ax

The lovely photo of us from NYE was taken by the gorgeous Erika Darquennes.  I may have to rope her in for a photo shot soon as the girl can even make me look good.
